Matty has bike handling skills and a range of tricks that make most older riders enviable. Despite his age, Matty has already established himself as one of the best talents in street trials today. If he continues to progress at this rate, could Matty Turner become the next Danny MacAskill?
How old are you and where are you from?
I am 16 years old from Wokingham.
What is your day job?
I’m currently at BCA College studying Outdoor Education.
Apart from working and riding, what do you like to do?
Other than riding and college I don't really get up to much, haha. I mostly meet up with friends or go to car meets with my brother and look at some cars!
Every top rider needs to be well fuelled, what is your favourite food/drink?
Any type of Lucozade and Burrito's. Diet of champions!
What kind of music do you listen to?
I tend to listen to house, rap or drum and bass type music. Any music that makes me want to ride suits me!
What kind of film/TV show do you like?
I don’t tend to watch TV much, when I do I like Family Guy and The Simpsons.
How long have you been riding and how did you get into it?
I first saw a guy in Devon on a trials bike outside my nan and granddads house. I then searched it up on the internet and found Bike Radar in 2010. I asked my dad if I could go and we went to Brands Hatch. I rode my first trials bike then on the Onza demo stand and it turned out to be Jack Meek teaching me how to do it!
Who are you favourite riders and why?
There are many great riders out there but it's got to be the main man Danny MacAskill! I do love the flow and style of Ali C too.
What would be your ideal day?
Riding while listening to music, or meeting up with friends.
Where is the best place you have ever ridden in the UK/abroad?
I haven't ridden a lot of places but Radical Bikes in Essex is amazing! Also, I like to ride in Devon and the Dressler Camp in the Czech Republic is a great place to ride.
What motivates you to ride?
Learning new moves, trying new lines and the inspiration of riders I look up to. Mostly I don’t need any motivation I just love riding!
What are your favourite things about riding an Inspired?
It is the perfect street bike for me! Mainly because they're strong, light and short making them the perfect street trials bike for anyone! I like the flicky and big moves and Inspired's range of bikes helps me accomplish them.
Can you give us a quick rundown of your current bike spec?
Inspired Skye Pro frame/fork, Inspired Arcade bars with Lock-On grips, Inspired Bashring and Team pedals, Inspired Kevlar saddle and Pivotal seat post, Magura MT7 brakes, Hope hubs, Continental tyres.
